Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
